Ever since the beginning of blower door testing, wind has always been an issue for testers to deal with in order to get the most accurate air infiltration reading possible, and it seems like many testers have their own process of dealing with it whether it is adding a T connector to the reference hose, placing the reference tube in a plastic bottle or manometer bag, or testing on the leeward side of the building. Sometimes these processes can help, but sometimes not. Wind is also why we have the baseline process, which helps us remove outdoor conditions from the equation to some degree, but it is far from perfect.
In this webinar, Sam Myers invites Retrotec Co-CEO Ben Walker to talk about the SmartCloth: a new blower door cloth that has mechanical wind dampening built in to provide more stable readings in windy conditions. This is the first time a blower door manufacturer has developed a product specifically for dealing with wind. Join us as we discuss the SmartCloth from its beginning stages to the final product, data from the field, and how we expect this type of technology to change blower door testing in the future.
