Berkeley Lab is gathering information from the industry to better understand the costs and challenges of deep energy retrofit (DER) projects in homes. We are interested in DER projects that use a comprehensive, whole-home approach to drastically reduce energy use. Alternative approaches to deep savings are also welcome! Your contribution will help guide the future research agenda on this topic.
There are two ways to contribute:
- Anonymously share detailed DER project cost and work scope data with our team. The first 30 participants can each receive $300 for providing cost data if they submit a minimum of 5 projects.
- Respond to a survey of the DER market drivers, opportunities and challenges.
To clarify, we are looking for project data submissions that have cost resolution at the measure/task level. For example, a line-item $ cost to insulate the attic to R-60, and another line item $ cost to seal and insulate the ductwork, plus a separate line-item for HVAC heat pump costs, etc.
