Comment for Rob concerning window AC units.
Outside air and inside air don't mix in most of the window units. If you look at the window unit and the filter that they use on it... It's like a MERV 0 or maybe -1.... just a screen to keep the bugs out. But you could change to a filter - if you significantly increase the surface area. If you have a differential air (Dwyer) you could possibly create a setup that allows you to measure the air pressure across the current setup... and figure out how much large a higher MERV filter might require to keep the static pressure drop the same.
Hello,
Has anyone tried custom filtering of window AC units? Specifically concerned with restricting flow and overburdening the unit's motor. Wondering what MERV filter is 'safe' here. Tips welcomed, thanks.
